Watch the moment a two-day rooftop stand off in Salford came to an abrupt end when riot police discovered the 37-year-old suspect fast asleep on a veranda roof and hauled him down.
In drone footage released by Greater Manchester Police, officers branded the conclusion to the siege a “roof awakening”.
The stand-off began on Thursday evening at a property on Ash Street, close to its junction with Field Street, when the suspect scaled the roof and began hurling tiles at the street below.
A cordon was quickly established around the area, and at least one neighbouring resident was forced to leave their home for safety reasons.

Police deployed a trained negotiator to coax the man down, though those efforts proved unsuccessful over the following 48 hours.
During the ordeal, the suspect was spotted sporting a jumper emblazoned with Leonardo DiCaprio’s name across the front.
Emergency services from multiple agencies maintained a presence throughout, with the situation tying up significant resources across the two days before officers finally moved in on Saturday.
By Saturday evening, drone cameras revealed the suspect had nodded off on a veranda roof just beneath the main roofline.
Officers from GMP’s specialist Tactical Aid Unit, kitted out in full protective equipment, entered the property and made their way through the back garden before ascending a ladder to reach him.
The officer at the top of the ladder seized the prone man, who briefly resisted before being pulled from his perch.
Both the suspect and the officer tumbled into the garden below, with the man landing on top of the constable who had grabbed him. His trousers were dragged down during the commotion, leaving him semi-naked as he was finally restrained.
Two officers sustained minor injuries during the arrest.

The man, who was sought on recall to prison at the request of another force, now faces a string of allegations.
He was detained on suspicion of causing a public nuisance, criminal damage, public order offences, burglary and assaulting two police officers. He remains in custody for questioning.
The incident, which stretched from Thursday evening to Saturday, drew a major response from police, fire and ambulance services in the Weaste area.
Detective Chief Inspector Helen Bagnall, of GMP’s Salford district, said: “During two days of disruption to the local community, we worked continuously with our partners to bring this matter to a safe conclusion.
“This was an extensive use of vital policing resources and clearly demonstrates the dangers our officers face on a daily basis in order to protect the people of Greater Manchester.
“Two of our officers suffered minor injuries during this incident.
“I would like to reiterate my thanks to the people of Salford for their patience and understanding whilst emergency service personnel dealt with this incident.
“Some properties have been damaged as a result of this man’s actions. We will work with partners to ensure affected residents will be supported going forward.”
