The Oxfordshire village of Piddington has voted to leave the United Kingdom in a symbolic referendum.

The results were announced outside the village hall just after 7am, with returning officer Susannah Parden declaring that 285 voted to leave the UK, compared with 26 opting to stay. One ballot paper was spoilt.

Piddington has a population of around 350 people, but only 312 were registered to vote.
