Mr Trump shared his concerns for the state of the UK, telling Bev: “Your country’s changed a lot. I hope you know that.”

He warned the UK was now at a “tipping point”, highlighting mass immigration and energy as key issues.

“You have a tremendous immigration problem, and you have a tremendous energy problem,” he said.

Mr Trump urged Britain to make greater use of its North Sea oil and gas reserves, describing the North Sea as “a gold mine for you if you use it”.

“You can have either a rich nation or a poor nation,” he said.

“You have a very rich nation if you do the North Sea.”

On the subject of migration, Mr Trump referred to the shocking invasion of Ceuta that saw more than 80,000 Africans storm the Spanish exclave.

“Spain will be a ruined country,” he said, adding the consequences could ultimately spread across Europe.

On geopolitics, Mr Trump refreshed his fury over the lack of UK and Nato aid in the conflict with Iran.

He said: “You weren’t there to help me… Your country was not there to help me.”

“I’m saving your country from the threat too,” he said, warning that an Iranian nuclear weapon would pose a particular danger to Europe because of Iran’s missile capabilities.

Mr Trump also addressed the Falklands after Argentine President Javier Milei, an ally of his, refreshed his country’s claim on the British territory.

“The Falklands is very interesting because your country is not the same country it was under Margaret Thatcher,” he said.

Asked whether the US would come to Britain’s aid, Mr Trump said the UK’s ability to respond was now the key issue.

“I just don’t know if you have the capacity to do it,” he said.

“It’s a big difference… You took it back pretty strongly, but it’s a long way away. That’s a big trip; it’s a long way.”

Mr Trump also condemned Labour’s Chagos surrender deal, blasting plans to hand sovereignty of the British territory to Mauritius as “terrible”.

“I think your new Prime Minister (Andy Burnham) will have to look at that. But that was very bad,” he warned.

Turning to the Royal Family, Mr Trump spoke candidly about King Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Asked what he would have done if he were King Charles, Mr Trump said he would not have welcomed Harry back into the Royal Family.

“Personally, I would not have taken him back,” he said, arguing there had been “too much hate” and “too many really bad things said”.

He praised King Charles personally, describing Charles as “fantastic” and “a friend of mine”, while criticising Harry’s book and Meghan’s influence on him.
