Twelve people have been killed after a tourist bus crashed overnight in Hungary.

The bus, which was full of Polish tourists, went into a ditch and overturned at around 1am local time this morning.

The bus was travelling the M3 motorway, near the town of Mezokeresztes, when the crash occurred.

Police have said that the driver likely fell asleep, and he has been taken into custody.
