Scottie Scheffler savoured the “cool feeling” of completing a dramatic Tour Championship comeback as his victory saw him surpass Tiger Woods at the top of the PGA Tour’s career money list.
The world No 1 began Sunday’s final round at East Lake Golf Club three shots behind but carded a four-under-par 66 to claim his second FedExCup title.

Scheffler finished on 16 under, three strokes ahead of Viktor Hovland, while Tour Championship debutant Ryan Gerard took third place on 12 under.
The American collected $10million (£7.4m) for his victory, taking his official PGA Tour career earnings to $130,390,661.

That moved Scheffler beyond Woods, whose total of $120,999,166 had kept him at the summit for almost 26 years. Rory McIlroy is third on the list with $119,555,514.
Scheffler relished the manner of his victory after overturning the deficit with a composed performance under pressure.
“This was a week I brought a lot of good energy to the course and tried to do my best,” he said during the trophy presentation.
“Coming from behind and being able to win tournaments is a really cool feeling.”
Scheffler wasted little time in applying pressure to overnight leader Hovland.
His five-iron at the 211-yard second hole finished just two inches from the cup, leaving him with a simple tap-in birdie.
A 25-foot birdie putt at the fourth then brought him level at the top of the leaderboard.
Scheffler remained alongside Hovland until the 13th, when he finally moved into the outright lead. Bogeys at the seventh and 14th threatened to stall his charge, but he responded at the decisive moment.

At the par-four 16th, Scheffler found the green from a fairway bunker before converting an 11-foot birdie putt to increase his advantage.
He completed the final two holes without another mistake, sealing his 22nd PGA Tour title and his 25th victory worldwide.
Scheffler’s closing 66 matched the lowest round of the day and was his best Sunday score at East Lake since shooting 65 in 2020.
It also extended his remarkable run at the Atlanta course to 12 consecutive rounds in the 60s. He was the only player from the final three groups to finish the final round under par.
Scheffler has now joined Woods and McIlroy as the only players to win multiple FedExCup titles.
Woods lifted the trophy in 2007 and 2009, while McIlroy remains the competition’s most successful player with three triumphs.
Scheffler previously won the season-long prize in 2024.
His latest success was his third PGA Tour victory of 2026 following wins at The American Express and the FedEx St Jude Championship.
Scheffler has now recorded multiple Tour victories in five successive seasons. Across 20 starts this year, he produced 13 top-five finishes, including five runner-up results.
The American could yet match another of Woods’ records, having won the Jack Nicklaus Award as the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year in each of the past four seasons.
