Prince Harry remains “angry” with members of the Royal Family and still “expects an apology” amid his shock return to the UK, sources have said.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, touched down in Britain alongside his wife Meghan, 45, and their two young children this week, marking the family’s first “extended” return since their dramatic departure six years ago.
The prince arrived at Birmingham Airport last week aboard a private jet, with the family reportedly settling into a non-royal residence believed to be situated in the Cotswolds, where their children, seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet, are understood to have been enrolled at a nearby prep school.
But any hopes that the homecoming might signal a softening of relations with the wider Royal Family may be premature – according to friends who have spoken with the duke since his arrival, he remains “just as angry” as he was when he left in 2020.

Those who spoke with the prince upon his return had anticipated hearing expressions of remorse and humility, according to a source who told the The Mail on Sunday.
Instead, they said: “There will be no imminent mea culpa from Harry by the sounds of things. Far from it, in fact. He is still in that Oprah mindset.”
The duke is described as “spitting blood” at certain royals and remains deeply aggrieved by the Palace apparatus surrounding his father.
“They were agog to hear he still feels angry with members of the Royal Family, is still frustrated by the ‘men in grey suits’ who surround his father, and still expects an apology,” the source added.
Rather than extending an olive branch, according to the newspaper’s sources, the duke may be demanding one.
Those close to him say he has no intention of issuing any public expression of regret for his own conduct.
“Friends who have spoken to him since he returned to the UK were surprised to discover that the record has not changed one bit since 2020 and Megxit,” the source observed. “It’s shocking and quite sad.”

Beyond the family rift, the duke is simultaneously waging a battle with the Government over security.
The Duke of Sussex’s legal team contacted Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood this month, pressing her to take a direct role in determining whether the duke and his family should receive police protection funded by the public purse.
Within the letter, Harry’s representatives claimed the chair of the executive committee for the protection of royalty and public figures (Ravec) did not pass on information about a terrorist threat despite being made aware, GB News can confirm.
The FBI are understood to have informed the prince’s security team about a threat from al-Qaeda in the later months of the year, the outlet reports, following intelligence they received from messaging app Telegram, referring to Harry’s “assassination”.
FBI officials were made aware through a shared system of intelligence between the UK and the US, called Five Eyes channels, though he was never informed by the UK.
The family’s transatlantic journey on Wednesday was made aboard a private plane, touching down on British soil entirely without police protection.
While in America, Harry had armed protection. In the UK, despite offering to cover the costs himself, the prince is unable to pay for armed guards or intelligence from the police.
