Seven uncapped players have been included in the squad, with Sevilla forward Robbie Ure and Stoke City defender Luke Graham among the most eye-catching additions.

Luis Binks, Colby Donovan, goalkeeper Jon McCracken, Josh McPake and Stephen Welsh complete the list of newcomers.

The squad is notably missing Torino’s Che Adams, who is reportedly injured, while Napoli’s Scott McTominay is unavailable after minor heart surgery.

McBurnie, now 30, made his Scotland debut back in 2018 and wracked up 16 caps before his last appearance in 2021.

His recall to the international setup comes after a prolonged spell in the wilderness, with Pocognoli evidently keen to bolster his attacking options in the absence of Adams.

McBurnie’s inclusion alongside Bowie, Ure and Wilson in the forward ranks reflects the new head coach’s need for striking depth.
