Peter Odemwingie, the former Premier League forward, has threatened to take legal action against Sky Sports, West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers over the continued replaying of his notorious failed transfer from January 2013.
The ex-Nigeria international took to Instagram to announce he would be consulting a lawyer, accusing the broadcaster of repeatedly exploiting the incident for entertainment purposes.

The footage of his doomed deadline day move was aired once again on Sky Sports News ahead of this week’s transfer window closure, prompting the former striker to launch a furious response in which he demanded accountability from all parties involved.
He wrote on social media: “Sky Sports agents and employees of both clubs – West Brom and QPR – definitely have questions to answer, and I will be seeing a lawyer next week to make it official.
“From simply a human side of it @SkySportsFootball, what is the motive/intention to show this episode on and on for so many years?
“The least will be lack or absence of respect in my opinion. Maybe they don’t like that I am half Nigerian and half Russian? I can only guess. Could be something else. Who really knows.”
Speaking in the video, Odemwingie accused Sky Sports of “milking” the 13-year-old video.
He said: “The problem about this whole story is that nobody is interested in the truth.

“They just want to be distracted. Sky Sports milked this situation for so many years. I think it’s just wickedness really.”
The incident remains one of the most extraordinary episodes in transfer window history.
Odemwingie drove to QPR’s Loftus Road ground on deadline day in January 2013, fully convinced that his switch from West Brom had been completed.
Reporters captured the striker speaking through his car window outside the stadium, creating images that have become synonymous with deadline day chaos.
However, the two clubs had not reached an agreement on a fee for the Nigerian forward, and the proposed transfer fell apart just minutes before the 11pm cut-off point, leaving him with no option but to return to the Midlands.
West Brom took disciplinary action against Odemwingie in the aftermath.
The club’s then-chairman Jeremy Peace publicly rebuked the striker, branding his behaviour “wholly unprofessional”.
Further on social media, Odemwingie alleged his agent worked alongside a Sky Sports reporter.
He continued: “Barry McIntosh [Odemwingie’s agent] told me it was all sorted. His car was in front of mine and we were driving. I don’t even know where we were going, whether to the training ground or to the stadium.
‘I’d never been there before. Even when I’d gone to QPR, I just arrived on the bus and walked into the dressing room. They parked right by the doors.
“We continued driving and I was following his car. When he pulled up, then I waited and the cameras came. But then, West Brom also misbehaved that day, saying it was a conditional decision and that Hoilett had to go the other way for the deal to happen.
“There was no such condition given and they misbehaved. Then [Dan] Ashworth called West Brom director of football Richard Garlick.
“Shame on them, shame on Sky and the agents. Sky never wanted to interview the agent. He had direct links with Sky. Dharmesh was interviewed by Roman and Evan Evans of World in Motion, because none of them gave any account of what happened.”
Odemwingie tagged Sky Sports, BBC Sport and talkSPORT with a cryptic post, writing: “Tables have turned. The time is ticking. Heads out the sand guys.”
