In today’s GB News Daily Reflection, we consider Christians as apple trees that naturally bear the fruit of their own nature.

This suggests that genuine faith should be reflected in sincere love, rejection of evil, devotion to others and a commitment to Christian community.

“A genuine apple tree produces apples. Likewise, God has given a Christian a new nature, and there will be marks or signs revealing the change. A genuine Christian bears good fruit, and a passage in the Book of Romans lists some of those fruits of the Spirit.

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves.

“The first part concerns moral integrity. Our love must be genuine, not fake. We love others for the sake of loving, not for selfish personal gain. We reject evil to cling to good, which means there is a degree of intolerance for a Christian. They refuse wickedness in themselves and speak against it in love in the world.

“The second part concerns community. A Christian longs to be devoted to the church and be able to practice honouring others above themselves. This cannot happen in isolation.

“Marks of a true Christian can be seen in our developing moral integrity and commitment to the worshipping community.”
