Martin Daubney fought back tears as the father of a Nottingham attack victim revealed the police had not informed families about the risks posed by a man stalking them in the aftermath of their children’s deaths.
Speaking to Dr Sanjoy Kumar, father of Grace O’Malley-Kumar, Mr Daubney appeared close to tears as the GP described how the alleged stalker had turned up at his workplace.

Students Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both 19, and Ian Coates, 65, were killed by Valdo Calocane in June 2023.
The families of Grace and Barnaby have sought to expose the apparent failings of Nottingham Police in handling the case before and after Calocane’s spree.

Now, the families have accused authorities of failing to inform them that a man with “serious mental health problems” was stalking them after the attacks.
Dr Kumar explained the man had visited his surgery while he was away on a home visit.
He explained that officers had attended his practice but failed to tell him about the man’s history or the level of risk he posed.
“He was known to Prevent. He was under section of the Mental Health Act. He’d absconded from hospital. He was violent and had a very long history with the police. We weren’t told about any of this,” Dr Kumar said.
He described the failure to warn him as “ridiculous” and “preposterous”, adding: “As a victim, I’m shocked that you cannot be told about the risks someone poses to your safety.”
Dr Kumar said he had previously worked with police and had “an enormous amount of respect” for officers, but was now “sick to death” of seeing similar mistakes.
“I find it very hard, Martin, to carry on supporting an organisation. Why wouldn’t they share it with us? At this stage, I’m dismayed.”
“I campaign for the police and have an enormous amount of respect for the police. But time and time again, these kinds of mistakes happen with us. And I’m sick to death of it.”

An emotional Martin said: “To find out you’ve got a stalker who’s obsessed with the case, who’s turning up at your workplace and your homes, and then to find out the police aren’t telling you… I’m just utterly lost for words.”
“Martin, what else can go wrong in this case? It has been a debauchery from day one.”
The presenter, who has previously visited the families and witnessed them laying flowers at the scene where their children were killed, struggled to contain his emotions as he reflected on the revelations.
“You and I both know the stalking has led to some serious crimes in the past,” he said, adding: “I’m just utterly lost for words.”
The presenter then looked away from the camera and sniffled as he prepared to read a response from Nottinghamshire Police.
“A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson has said this…” Martin began, visibly fighting back tears.
The force said it referred the complaint to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) on August 24 because of its nature, and that it was awaiting a response.
“Unfortunately, we cannot comment any further at this stage while an investigation is underway,” the statement added.
The force said it had “updated the complainants throughout the process”.
