Drivers are facing long delays in the North West of England this morning as the police conduct an investigation on the M60.
The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed between J10 (Trafford Park) and J11 (Eccles) clockwise due to a Greater Manchester Police-led incident.
Just before the peak of rush hour, at around 7.30am, traffic officers from National Highways were called to the M60 to assist with the incident.
The clockwise route remains closed while police investigations and vehicle recovery are carried out.
It has warned that it is currently unknown when the carriageway will reopen, potentially leaving thousands of drivers stuck in traffic.
Traffic caught within the closure has been released past the scene, with National Highways also creating a diversion route for motorists.
Drivers are currently dealing with delays of around 40 minutes, and approximately four miles of congestion on the approach.

Traffic cameras show delays building on the M60 past J10 and J11 near the Trafford Centre, as motorists face further rush hour havoc.
Images posted by road users from the scene appear to show two police cars blocking the carriageway, as well as cones on the road.
One X user warned: “Not a great start to the day. If you travel North on M60 toward Worsley, avoid. Could be here a while I think.”
