Watch the moment GB News host Stephen Dixon challenges a Labour MP on new guidance published by the Home Office for asylum seekers, telling them how “not to rape women”.
Pressing the Minister of State for School Standards Georgia Gould, Stephen argued that Britons were previously “often branded bigots and scaremongers” for expressing concern for their safety.
He told Ms Gould: “I just wonder if anything’s changed since the Labour Government was initially elected in 2024, because when people have protested in areas about the safety of their communities, with an influx of what you would call fighting age young men, they’ve been often branded bigots and scare mongers.
“And this leaflet actually says, no, you had a point, there is a reason to be concerned, because some of these people do not understand the culture into which they have now moved?”
The Labour MP responded: “I think since Labour came into power, we have been really clear that anyone who breaks the law of this country is not welcome in this country, and we have taken action to make it easier to deport people who break the law here.
“And we’ve been really clear that we expect anyone who comes to this country to abide by the law. We know that the small boats are dominated by illegal gangs who are themselves running criminal operations, and this is something that we are taking really seriously as a Government and have managed to take action on over 100 of those gangs.
“So law breaking in any form will not be tolerated, and we’ve made that clear since we came into power.”
Ms Gould highlighted the “positive figures” on the Labour Government’s efforts to tackle the migrant crisis, telling GB News they have returned “80,000 people who don’t have the right to be in this country, the highest since 2010.”
Challenging Ms Gould on the housing of asylum seekers in the UK, host Ellie Costello grilled her on whether Labour is “in touch with British opinion” on the dispersal of illegal migrants into their communities.
She responded: “We are taking action where people don’t have the right to be here and speeding up asylum claims, but many people across the country have raised huge concern about the cost of hotel bills.
“The last Government used hotels to place asylum seekers, and this Government has made a commitment to end the use of hotels, so we need to look at other alternatives, including military bases that are secure accommodation, a more sustainable way of housing people while they go through the the claims process.
“And that’s something we’re taking forward, hotels have gone down from 400 at its peak to 200 in operation, but we need to go further and that’s the work that you’re setting out, moving people to military bases and other areas.”

Pushing back on Ms Gould, Stephen challenged the MP on her claim that former military bases are “secure accommodation” for asylum seekers.
He stressed: “They’re being used to prop people up overnight, but then people are free to roam an area. Do we need to look at proper secure accommodation for people while they’re being assessed?”
Ms Gould responded: “So military bases are by their nature a more secure, more contained accommodation. There’s obviously security in place where there is that conversation.”
Interjecting the MP, Stephen hit back: “Forgive me, Minister, but it’s not secure if they can leave during the day?”
Scrambling for a response, Ms Gould told GB News: “So people are free to leave and go to the shops and do the things that they need to do, but it’s a carefully monitored, secure situation, more secure than a hotel.
“And that’s critically more affordable, so that that’s the change we’re bringing in, and I think it’s a really important one. It’s something that many people have asked for.”
In a statement, a Home Office spokesman told GB News: “We expect everyone who comes to the UK to abide by our laws. If they do not, they will face consequences, including the refusal of their asylum claim and removal from the UK.
“Returns of failed asylum seekers have reached their highest level since 2010 under this Government.”
