King Charles and Queen Camilla have today offered their warmest congratulations to the people of Ukraine as the nation marks its Independence Day.

The royal message, released through the British Embassy in Kyiv, conveyed deep admiration for the courage and resolve demonstrated by Ukrainians.

In his message, His Majesty sent his “heartfelt congratulations” to the people of Ukraine celebrating their national day.

“As we reflect upon Ukraine’s proud history, rich culture, and indomitable national spirit, we are reminded of the extraordinary fortitude Ukrainians have shown in defending their homeland and preserving the identity and values which define your nation,” he wrote.

He added that “such steadfast determination continues to command profound admiration throughout the United Kingdom and around the world”.

The King and Queen said they were “so pleased to be able to extend to you and to the people of Ukraine our heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of your Independence Day”.

The Monarch also spoke of the lasting bond between Britain and Ukraine, noting that he remains “greatly encouraged by the enduring friendship between our nations and by the close bonds which unite our peoples”.

In a particularly poignant closing passage, His Majesty and the Queen extended their personal hopes for Ukraine’s future.

“My wife and I send our sincere and special wishes to you and to all Ukrainians for the possibility of peace, security, and prosperity in the year ahead,” the royal message concluded.
