In today’s GB News Daily Reflection, we remember that Jesus gives us hope and spiritual encounter and clarity not to hide us from the world, but to give us strength to walk through the world knowing that we are never walking alone.
“We all have moments when we wish we could just hit the pause button on life. Maybe it’s when you’re experiencing a perfect sunset after a hot day or a paradise holiday, a deep conversation over coffee with a friend, or just this rare moment of total clarity.
“And we want to freeze that time.Because the real world outside of this is full of stress and bills and uncertainty.
“In Luke’s gospel, three of Jesus’s closest friends experience the ultimate version of this. Jesus took them up a mountain to pray and suddenly everything changed. His face was transformed. His clothes flashed bright as white, and two ancient heroes, Moses and Elijah, appeared out of nowhere talking with him. The friends were terrified but amazed.
“They knew something was happening, and one of them said, master, should we build shelters here to keep this moment? He wanted to freeze and pause that button. But what was actually happening here? This event, which is known as the Transfiguration, wasn’t just a divine show.

“Luke tells us that Moses and Elijah were talking with Jesus about his departure, his upcoming death on a cross. This mountain moment was a glimpse behind the curtain. It showed who Jesus really was. Pure love and light, but also his mission.

“He didn’t stay on the mountaintop in safety. He came down the mountain right back into the messy, painful, broken world to walk to the cross for us. Sometimes we look for spiritual experiences to help us escape reality. But Jesus shows us a different way.”
