In today’s GB News Daily Reflection, we remember that God’s heart has never been limited to one people, one family, or one nation in his ancient promise.
“Just over 2500 years ago, a prophet named Isaiah revealed the heart of God in this short verse. Is it too small a thing for you to be my servant, to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept? I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth. God is foretelling that salvation will one day be freely open to all peoples.
“The servant referred to in this chapter is fulfilled perfectly in Jesus. Jesus’s mission was far greater than restoring Israel alone. He was the light for the entire world. His life, his death on the cross, and the empty tomb all declare that no one is beyond the reach of his loving salvation. May this expand our own heart to others too easily.
“Do we keep our love and favour towards those who are like us, and who share our views too easily? Do we favour our own cultural tribes and shared identities, creating boundary lines, deciding who must be shunned? God’s heart is an open heart. So may our hearts expand to all people.”
