In today’s GB News Daily Reflection, we remember how Saint Bartholomew contrasts Christian faith with religious violence.
That message shows that Jesus Christ’s example calls believers to speak the truth with love, endure suffering for their faith and love their opponents rather than seeking to defeat or crush them.
“Bartholomew did not make others suffer for his faith. He was willing to suffer because he wanted others to know Jesus’ love.
“And that is how the Christian message first spread, not through force, but through ordinary people speaking with courage, loving those who oppose them, and sometimes paying a great price for doing so.
“Jesus himself did not destroy his enemies. He laid down his life for them.
“Christian faith, at its truest, doesn’t ask, how can I crush this person? But how can I speak the truth in genuine love?”
