Explosion at Germany's Augsburg Central train station injures several people

Police are currently responding to an explosion at Augsburg’s main train station.

An unidentified object exploded around 4.15am in a building passageway, injuring several people.

Traffic and public transport are currently disrupted as the investigation continues.

The station building and platform 1 remain closed, a police spokesman told German newspaper Bild.

Train services are running on other platforms, which are accessible through the north and south entrances.

The number of people injured is unclear, as is the cause of the explosion.
