Dougie Beattie hails ‘fantastic’ British and Irish culture from all corners of the UK: ‘How lucky am I?’

Dougie Beattie has delivered a heartfelt tribute to British and Irish culture from all four corners of the UK, celebrating the privilege of being “amongst your own people, your own culture”.

The GB News reporter was full of pride as he attended the Fleadh Cheoil, or literally “music festival” in English, in Belfast.

“I have been at GB News for five years. One of my favourite things is to get into my patch and bring it to the rest of Britain and show exactly how this part of the UK is.

“To show how we behave with our neighbours and how we interact with the rest of Britain – Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland. It is fantastic,” he declared.

“I’ve been in many, many bad places and the world has seen many bad things, things that make you question lots of things,” Dougie explained.

“When you come back home, and you’re in amongst your own people, your own culture, you start to think, how lucky am I?”

The GB News star also met with a mother and her daughters who were attending Fleadh Cheoil, being treated to a musical performance by one of the girls.
