Dougie Beattie has furiously responded to Donald Trump’s calls for a united Ireland, declaring the United States leader “doesn’t know his history”.
The GB News Northern Ireland reporter was alongside Bev Turner during Mr Trump’s visit to Dublin.
Speaking to reporters alongside Taoiseach Micheál Martin, the US President said he would “love to see” Northern Ireland united with the Republic.
“I have friends on both sides. Great people. They’re Irish people. How can they be bad? Right. I think it would be great.”

En route to the US ambassador’s residencein Dublin, Bev asked Dougie if he was happy with Mr Trump’s remarks, to which he emphatically responded: “No!”

He added: “He doesn’t know his history. ‘These were Irishmen’? They weren’t; they were from Ulster.”
“I think he’s going to go for the Irish-American vote in the midterms, to be honest about it,” Dougie said.
