Bryson DeChambeau has confirmed he will make a return to the DP World Tour as uncertainty continues to surround his future amid LIV Golf’s battle for survival.
The two-time US Open champion has not competed on the European circuit since 2022 but will end that absence by appearing at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa this December.
DeChambeau’s announcement comes at a turbulent time for LIV, with major questions remaining over the breakaway league’s future and consequently the American’s schedule for 2027.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund is set to withdraw its financial backing at the end of the current campaign, leaving LIV searching for a sustainable path forward.
DeChambeau has emerged as one of the most vocal figures fighting for the competition’s future since the development emerged.
Yet the 32-year-old is beginning to put together his own plans beyond LIV’s final event of the season in Indianapolis.
DeChambeau revealed alongside golfing legend Gary Player that he will compete at the Nedbank Golf Challenge between December 3 and 6.
It will mark his second appearance in South Africa during 2026 after he claimed victory when LIV staged its inaugural event in the country in March.
Player welcomed the news and believes DeChambeau’s return will prove hugely popular with local spectators.
“I am absolutely delighted that Bryson will compete in this year’s Nedbank Golf Challenge,” Player said.
“The South African crowds loved watching him play earlier this year, and it is wonderful to welcome him back to our incredible country.
“Bryson’s passion, power and commitment to the game continue to inspire fans around the world.”

DeChambeau will be making his first appearance at the prestigious $6million tournament at Sun City.
The event boasts an illustrious list of previous champions, including Seve Ballesteros, Sir Nick Faldo and South African great Ernie Els.
It will also form part of the opening stages of the DP World Tour’s wraparound 2027 schedule.
However, DeChambeau’s decision creates an intriguing contrast with Rory McIlroy, with the Nedbank Golf Challenge taking place at the same time as the Australian Open.
McIlroy is scheduled to compete at Kingston Heath, meaning two of golf’s biggest names will be appearing on opposite sides of the world that week.
DeChambeau may not have to wait until December to make his DP World Tour comeback either.
The Californian has left open the possibility of competing at next month’s Irish Open, which is due to be staged at Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg.
The course is owned by US President Donald Trump.
Any appearance there would bring DeChambeau’s DP World Tour absence to an end earlier than expected and provide another high-profile addition to his schedule.
His plans beyond those tournaments remain considerably less certain.
