Barry Manilow, 83, has revealed he is stepping back from live performances following an intensive summer touring schedule that saw him deliver 29 concerts across just 68 days.
The Grammy-winning singer shared the news via an Instagram statement on Tuesday, coming only days after he was forced to scrap two of his Las Vegas residency dates owing to “technical and vocal problems.”
The veteran performer, best known for hits such as Mandy and Copacabana, acknowledged that the demanding run of shows had taken its toll.
In his message to fans, Mr Manilow penned: “We just finished a fantastic summer tour.

“The shows were fantastic. The audiences were fantastic. And I sounded fantastic. But it seems that we were pushing a little too hard.”
The singer added: “Now we all need to sit down and shut up. So, we’re going to take a break until we return to the Westgate Las Vegas on October 8th. When I’ll be singing like a bird.
He concluded: “I hope to see you then.”
Fresh concert dates at the Westgate venue are expected to be confirmed next week, according to the statement.
The announcement followed the cancellation of his Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22, performances at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.
“We’re very sorry but we have to cancel tonight’s and tomorrow’s performances. Due to technical and vocal problems, we’re unable to put on our show,” a statement from Mr Manilow said at the time.
Those were not the only dates affected during his summer run.
Earlier in August, the singer also pulled out of a scheduled concert in Lexington, Kentucky, at the last moment on August 4, citing “unforeseen circumstances” without offering further detail.

It has been a particularly testing year for the 83-year-old, who earlier in 2026 was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Doctors discovered a cancerous spot on his lungs during an MRI scan, which he had undergone after suffering repeated bronchitis infections over a six-week period.
The growth was caught early and surgically removed, sparing him the need for chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
Fans rallied around the singer on social media following his break announcement.
“Take good care of yourself and maybe a little chicken soup!” one fan commented on Instagram.
Another penned: “Love you, Barry!”
A third wrote: “We love you barry, I keep on praying for you. Take as much of a break as you want were always here for you. Love you.”
Someone else added: “Take it easy Barry they where great comeback shows look forward to seeing you back where you belong soon.”
Another fan reassured the singer that he can “take as much time” as he needs.
