Alex Armstrong and Ellie Costello have been left baffled after a major study branded some of Britain’s most beloved nursery rhymes “sexist” and “reinforced gender stereotypes”.

The study advises parents to be “cautious” about which nursery rhymes they tell their children.

Upon hearing the findings, Alex exclaimed: “It is absolutely absurd!”

“Little Miss Muffet in Little Bo Peep portrays femininity as emotionally weak because a spider frightens her,” Ellie continued.

“Oh for goodness!”

“The fact that she doesn’t know where to find them implies confusion and dependence, but also problematic because she looks like a silly woman.

“So what isn’t problematic? These people putting out nonsense like this are dividing the country up.”
